WUrkshops 2008-2009
The Women's Union is absolutely thrilled to launch a workshop series for this academic year, aimed towards exploring gender issues through seminars, skill-sharing and creative projects.
This year's WUrkshops are:
michaelmas term
19 october (launch!): Get the year started with some new additions to your wardrobe: stencil shirts, bags and patches with feminist slogans and art. If you can, bring a blank shirt/cloth/bag: some will be provided (along with paint, stencils and other materials). Drinks and nibbles too!
2 november: checking out the pay gap (in honour of No Pay Day)
16 november: discussions beyond the binary- following up from Transgender Day of Remembrance (info about that here)
30 november: stop violence against women week- men's role in violence prevention.
lent term
25 january: Today we gather to put together the first Gender Agenda revival edition. We'll be there with printers, paper, scraps, art materials to get all of our ideas and articles in zine-form. Join the facebook group for updates and more info on how the zine making session will work.

8 february: In recent years, despite the common cries from the mainstream media that the feminist movement is dead, there has seen a resurgence of radical feminist activism in the UK. This workshop seeks to explore the strategies & locations of feminist activism in the UK right now, as well as uncover examples and tips from feminist history that will ignite and inspire you!'

Eating Disorders Awareness Brunch and WUrkshop
As part of Eating Disorders Awareness Week, CUSU Welfare and Women's Campaigns are holding a healthy vegan brunch on Sunday, followed by a WUrkshop in which we explore the themes of beauty through multimedia cutting and pasting.
Sunday 22nd February @ the Cafe Project, 22 Jesus Lane
From 11am: Vegan Brunch, raising money for B-eat (www.b-eat.co.uk)
2-4pm: Art Scrapbooking WUrkshop on Beauty, using collage to creatively explore image/identity/beauty. Materials provided.

8 march: International Women's Day!
Forum on Women and Islam- a panel discussion on women and Islam, exploring themes of diversity, liberation, Islamic feminism, image- and anything you want to bring to the discussion!
easter term
3 may: banner making for the Reclaim the Night march that night
17 may: exam skill bash-up- come along for a session on exam skills which may be especially useful to women.
WUrkshop programs will be updated throughout the year.
WUrkshops happen 2-4pm on Sundays fortnightly at the Cafe Project, 22 Jesus Lane.
