CUSU Women’s Union – Looking Forward
Hi, I’m Jo Read, CUSU Women’s Officer elect. I’ll be taking office this July in order to
spend the next year making the Women’s Union more relevant to women in Cambridge, without neglecting the potential of the pro-active feminist community in the university. There are a lot of challenges in the year ahead: ensuring that the JCAP report makes a difference to the way your department provides for all of it’s students, beginning a productive relationship with the new Vice Chancellor, fighting against the neglect of the issues affecting female students in the campaigns against top-up-fees and for access. Vital to ¬†everything we do this year will be making sure that everyone can get involved in what we are doing: whether it’s marching in London, participating in forums, or running campaigns.

From the summer onwards I will be contactable at the CUSU offices, or by e-mailing
womens@cusu.cam.ac.uk. Until then, please feel free
to contact me re: enquiries or ideas by e-mailing womens-secretary@cusu.cam.ac.uk. Next year we’re going to focus on bringing Women’s
Council Open Meetings to you, working to resolve the college- and department-based issues that are affecting you, and making sure you have the entire force of CUSU working in your best interests. I look forward to working with you!
